My escape artist dog is going to give me a hernia
I'm back from vacation and I can barely handle my own dog
Vacation is over… back to work!
And before I get too deep into this: you want to play the WSOP Main Event for free? I’ve got one of you covered.
Last time I checked in, I was on vacation, and my son was kicking my ass in a family vacation poker game. Turned out, he was out for blood. Literally. And I couldn’t be more proud. Beat your old man? That’s the first step, even if I’m the old man.
So, I went on vacation, got my butt kicked by my kid, and then came home to what the old man has to do…which is apparently chasing down the damned dog when he decides to escape.
What else does work look like this month?
Well, in addition to chasing one of my dogs and doing some light landscaping, PokerOrg has set me up with someone to…I guess…help me put into these newsletters out every month. His name also happens to be Chris, but if you watch videos from the Moneymaker Tour, you probably know him as Lefty…and to say that he’s already annoying me would be an understatement.
As he put it to me, it’s “literally his job” to bother me from time to time and see what I’m up to. Essentially, this newsletter has forced me to have a new friend which is bothersome because, well, I don’t need any new friends. Hell, I can barely stand the ones I’ve got.
I did everything I could do avoid letting Lefty into my brain. When Lefty asked for my contact info, I gave him my buddy Bruce’s phone number. That almost backfired, because Bruce pretended he was me and tried to convince Lefty to write a story about me being dressed up in a frog costume. See why I don’t need any more friends?
That said, Lefty isn’t all that bad. In fact, he’s worked with the Moneymaker Tour a lot over the last year or so. I even dressed up as him for Halloween last year! You’ll see what I mean below.
That said, he’s already needling me about not bagging The Venom on ACR. How do you block someone from texting you?
Speaking of The Venom, I dropped in over at Moneymaker Social in Louisville, Kentucky a few days ago and gave out a $2,650 Venom ticket to the winner of that day’s tournament. If you’re looking for more chances to take my money, I drop in there pretty regularly, but if you’re a bit of a hike from Kentucky and still want to keep up with what I’ve got going on, this newsletter is the best place to do it.
Life on the Moneymaker Poker Tour
Sam Sternfield was the big winner at our most recent Moneymaker Tour stop, taking home $80,855 for shipping the Main Event at the Daytona Beach Racing and Card Club. He’s having quite the 2025 so far with big scores on my tour and against the world’s best at the PokerGo studio in their mixed game series.
The next Moneymaker Tour stop is already coming up fast, and I’m planning on seeing you there (as well as putting Lefty in his place).
Next Stop: MGM National Harbor April 21-28
The Daytona stop was great, and while I wasn’t able to make it down to the tables in Florida this go-round, I will definitely be at MGM National Harbor. I’m putting my money out on a silver platter, but that doesn’t mean I’ll make it easy on you.
Check out the winner’s interview with Sam down in Daytona below.
A picture is worth a thousand big blinds
Something that is always going to be a special part of any Moneymaker Tour stop is having a professional photographer walking the floor of every event looking to capture photos of you at the table. Here are some of my favorites from Daytona Beach!
Keep an eye out in this newsletter, and I’ll show off a few photos that catch my eye after every stop. Check out our photo gallery and see if we nabbed your photo on the felt. Who knows? I might pick your face to be featured here next time if you come play at our next stop.
What’s your Moneymaker Story?
If you’re reading this newsletter, the likelihood is that you know my story of turning almost nothing into a WSOP Main Event title, an induction into the Poker Hall of Fame and a 20+ year career in the game that we all love. But now I want to hear your Moneymaker story.
Have you spun a freeroll win into a big chunk of money or sattied your way into a big tournament that you ended up winning? Hell, it could even be a story where you and I played together at some point. Lefty has one of those. He told me that I busted him in a $60 daily in Tunica back in 2011 before I ever knew who he was (a feather in my cap, if I do say so myself).
Whatever it is, I want to hear it. If it’s good, I might just find a way to feature it here. Make it entertaining, though. My attention span can be short.
